Music

Intent

Through a high quality music curriculum, pupils will be engaged with music and develop their love of music and talent as a musician.  Through this, they will increase their self-confidence, creativity and sense of achievement.  As pupils progress, they will develop a critical engagement with music, allowing them to compose and to listen with discrimination to music across a range of historical periods, genres, styles and traditions, including the works of the great composers and musicians.  They will have the opportunity to sing; use both tuned and un-tuned instruments; use technology and perform alone and with others.  Through their studies, they will develop an understanding of how music is created, produced and communicated through the inter-related dimensions of pitch, duration, dynamics, timbre, texture, structure and appropriate musical notations.
